Connect video surveillance with Google Picasa
There was an interesting article on BBC recently Viewpoint: The internet of things and yet another revolution. The Internet exists not because of Cisco, Google or Facebook, but because of people who create the information. And the Internet of Things is not when every fridge is connected to the Internet, but when you can connect whatever you want, create a web page for your car or podcast for your home thermometer.
Fridges, cars and thermometers already exist – just the Internet link is missing. This is why we created Flexibity Connect – it helps turning dumb devices into “smart” and “connected” ones. For example, it can force your webcam to detect motion and upload snapshots to Picasa, creating a powerful video surveillance system.
What is Flexibity Connect?
People often ask me, “so what is this Connect?”… and it is a little difficult to answer. I suppose, it is better to think Connect as a some kind of “swiss army knife” among routers. However initially – it is not a router at all.
Flexibity Connect – our first product – is a part of DIY home automation platform. It is an Internet gateway for home sensor network, based on ROLL/6LoWPAN protocols, plus:
- wireless video surveillance system
- 3G/WiMax – WiFi access point
- autonomous torrents client
And many more – it all depends on your capabilities and connected USB devices
