Connect is a Flexibity Open Sensors Toolkit component, providing wireless sensor networks gateway functionality. On-board interfaces include USB, SPI, SCI, GPIO and I2C.

Connect uses Linux operating system with OpenWRT distribution (http://www.openwrt.org/). OpenWRT is a state-of-the-art platform for routers in SOHO segment with an active support community, widely used on routers of such vendors as ASUS, D-Link and by the world biggest FON Wi-Fi network.

In order to communicate with a sensor network, radio board shall be connected using XS3 and XS7 extension headers. Connect has a flexible architecture and its functionality depends on attached USB modules. The following functions are available in addition to the wireless sensor networks gateway capability:

• Video surveillance (streaming video from UVC USB camera with motion detection and Google Picasa integration for motion snapshot storage)
• Wi-Fi Client and Access Point (using ZD1211RW based Wi-Fi USB adapters)
• USB Mass Storage devices
• 3G/WiMax communications (in development)
• GSM-VoIP (SIP) gateway (in development)
